The house that became a home…
Last night was the last regular season home game in Yankee Stadium and as I watched the game on TV and the history and the celebration afterwards, I couldn’t help but be a little emotional. The history is just staggering of the events, not only sports, that took place there. One of the best things is that the Yankees won the last game, AND Boston didn’t clinch their playoff spot by anything the Yankees did in that series against Baltimore…a very proud day for Yankee fans, considering the season. One of the signs in the stands summed it up beautifully…It started as a house, but ended as a home. Well said. I did have the thrill of seeing a couple games at the Stadium, one when I was very young, and the last in 2001. We took the field tour before the game and I absolutely had goose bumps being down on the field and in monument park…amazing history and tradition that you could just feel, all around you. The new stadium just won’t be the same but as Derek Jeter said, it’s up to the fans to carry on the memories.
