IE8 initial thoughts
Dabbling in some web development over the years I have absolutely hated IE because of their decision to stray from the standards and do their own thing making it hell as a developer to incorporate all kinds of IE specific hacks just so your pages can remain consistent. So when IE8 was announced and it’s claims of being more standards compliant, based on the CSS 2.1 standard, HTML 5, I was a little curious so I had a look and watched some of the demos. I must admit it does have some cool features like the Accelerators, but standards compliance is something that you can’t just witness, you have to get into the code. So, against my better judgement I’m going to install it and if I can find some time test out some code and report back as to how “compliant” to standards IE8 actually is…we shall see.

Trent,
This is the first I have heard of your displeasure with IE.
Richard has told me have been a big supporter of Windows. I hope IE8 helps us mend this divide between us.
Best Wishes
